The Company's business was acquired from Chart Industries in 2001 by the founders to focus on the CO2 cleaning industry and to continue to consolidate relevant intellectual property. In 2001, the Company acquired from Micell Technologies inventory, garment care equipment, marketing materials, and design documentation related to the dry-cleaning machine and a franchise business under the Hangers Cleaners trade name. Micell was a competitor in the CO2 dry-cleaning equipment market. The intellectual property portfolio consists of patents and know-how that Micell licensed from the Battelle Memorial Institute, the University of North Carolina, or developed internally.

In 2005 the Company acquired the exclusive rights to 33 Raytheon patents in the precision cleaning area when Raytheon decided to focus its resources on Aerospace system sales. The Company has a services supply agreement with Raytheon for all of their CO2 cleaning activity.

In 2005, the Company acquired, the exclusive license to all the key patents for precision cleaning and cooling/lubricating applications utilizing CO2 from DeFlex. David Jackson, the founder and holder of the patents of Deflex, also joined the Company at that time and now leads overall intellectual property strategy.

The Company has aggregated over 80 patents. This intellectual property portfolio provides protection in areas such as pushing CO2 through a system using a compressor, the distillation of CO2 through pressure reduction, several safety and maintenance claims, delivering and recycling CO2, various methods of particle removal with sonic agitation, reducing CO2 usage for cooling and lubricating and the use of an oil mist with CO2 to name a few.
